8:15 – 11:45 am: Presentation (3 hrs CEU/two 15-minute breaks)

Title: Narrative Mosaics: Assessment and Intervention of Narratives Across Cultures

This workshop will explore the use of narratives as a context for language intervention. Using culturally responsive principles and practices, the presenters will describe structural and stylistic features of narratives across cultures, including the evaluation and selection of children’s literature. Dynamic assessment of narrative comprehension and production will be discussed, followed by strategies and procedures for using storybooks as a context for language intervention at the word, sentence, and discourse levels.
