OSHA "Day at the Capitol"

  • 07 May 2019
  • 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Tuesday, May 7, 2019, is "Day at the Capitol" which is hosted by OSHA. We hope to see you there! Please RSVP (by selecting "going" on our Facebook page) to this event prior to May 5 if you would like a complimentary boxed lunch.

Advocacy is a great way to support our profession and learn all about legislation. We will start the day early at 8:30 am with briefings and schedules so we all know what issues are up and when, and then we will review what to expect for the day.

Not to worry if you are new to state level legislation, we’ll include an overview of “how to lobby your legislator” during the morning briefing along with some “Do’s and Don’ts”.

We would also like to strongly encourage people to make appointments to meet with their individual legislators while in Salem. Even if it is just to discuss OSHA’s mission generally, it is very helpful to remind them of who we are and why we’re here. Appointments are usually limited to 15 minutes so it’s a small commitment of time from the day. Appointments can be made by calling the appropriate legislators office directly (see attachment).

Please let us know if you have any questions! If you'd like more information, you may review this document on how the legislative process works at the state level and how you can become more involved. https://tinyurl.com/y3olzav6
